OSBORNE COUNTY KANSAS NINETEENTH CENTURY MARRIAGES, 1872-1899 Compiled by Von Rothenberger.
The nearly 900 square miles of what is now Osborne County, Kansas, did not become formally organized as a legal entity until June 1871.  In May 1872 Thomas Jefferson “Jeff” Durfey and Mary Burke were the first couple to legally apply for a marriage license in the county.

This compilation lists all marriage licenses issued in Osborne County between May 1872 and December 1899.  The information is presented with groom first and then by bride, and is from the official Osborne County marriage books kept by the Clerk of the District Court Office, which is located in the Osborne County Courthouse in Osborne, Kansas.  Names are given as they were recorded in these books; in rare instances the known correct spelling of names is shown in brackets.  The few instances where a marriage license was issued but not returned signed by the proper official are also noted.
