New Printing Now Available!! OSBORNE COUNTY KANSAS BURIALS 1866-2000, Compiled by Von Rothenberger
The definitive book on over 54,000 burials that occurred within the legal borders of Osborne County, Kansas, between the July 21, 1866 death of U.S. cavalryman Edward Roche and December 31, 2000. Compiled over an eleven year period, the book features hundreds of burials listed for the first time ever in publication. In this unique work the entries are presented using a surname-first alphabetical indexing, rather than by cemetery. The book also lists the approximately 200 people known buried outside the county’s 41 official cemeteries along with genealogical and historical information going back to the 1700s. Each entry provides the following information where known: birthdate; deathdate; and cemetery (or other) where buried. Many of the entries feature additional biographical data on each person. The information for each entry came from a myriad of sources, including the following: onsite cemetery surveys; newspaper obituaries; county, state, and national census data; county land, probate, and tax records – specifically deeds, wills, intestate records and tax assessment rolls – and other county biography books. The book also features map and photograph sections. An absolute must for anyone researching the history of Osborne County and Kansas.
